Our History
Stairs in the future may turn out to be produced from glass. You will be certainly told in Konstantinovka, that the ruby stars of the Moscow Kremlin were produced by one of the Konstantinovka glass plants. Really, it was "Avtosteklo" (mirror factory before 1934). It was built by Belgians in 1899. At one time sarcophagus for Lenin mausoleum, glazing and mirrors for the Cremlin Palace of Congress, the crystal bowl for the fountain at the World Exhibition in New York and many other glass articles have been manufactured there besides the ruby stars. All products may not be counted. It was the "flag-officer" of the Ukrainian and Union glass industry, which had his own NII Avtosteklo (the Research Institute).
About 7600 people worked at that plant. There had been manufactured about 300 thousand m2 of the sheet glass (window, figured, wire glass etc.). But the main famous achievement of the plant was its production for defence industry: 47 per cent of its production were used for war industry. Our fighters and helicopters, ships and armoured carriers - all of them looked through the glass, produced by the Konstantinovka plant. The search lighting reflectors with the diameter 2m stood along the state frontier, and the rockets with radioparent reflectors produced at "Avtosteklo" were took off.
On the base of several shops of this plant was created "Spetstekhsteklo" - a new enterprise working for aircraft industry.
On July, 19, 2017 public joint stock company of "Spetstekhsteklo" it was regenerate in limited liability company "Spetstekhsteklo".
The enterprise's leader could keep the best specialists and a unique technology of production as well as to carry out the international certification of products. Today LLC "Spetstekhsteklo" has Russian and European certificates confirming the production accordance to the World standards.
Today our enterprise is the main supplier of glass articles for home aircraft industry. It has all the necessary equipment and technology giving the opportunity to produce bullet-proof glass. Like in former times there aren't any MID, SU, AN or other home airplane or helicopter model doing without Konstantinovka glass. Moreover, the MIG modernization, consisting in the broadening of cabin for the installation of the required electronic equipment (such technique is practiced, for example, in India) is much cheaper than purchasing new models. Konstantinovka's inhabitants are ready to take part in this projects.
Today new technologies and equipment are necessary as the breath of life for our glass plants. Here is an example. But for the obvious volume of production "Avtosteklo" couldn't turn out some kinds of products, which are mastered now by "Spetstekhsteklo". After purchasing a new Italian machine for edge finishing, we began to produce a real glass furniture: tables, shelves etc. It looks very eccentric and beautifully, and costs non-expensively.
No doubt, the use of glass in town-building will only increase. The future appearance of cities and towns will be more transparent: today glass is used as one of the main architectural and design elements. Some of the masterpieces of the modern glass architecture strike with the beauty and elegance. Undoubtedly, it is an obvious and perspective market for glass industry. What is the role of Ukraine in it? It depends only of us.
